Hello All,
I know, I know, it's been A while, but what can I say! I've been busy...very busy. {Are you buying it yet? LOL}
So my summers revolution for right now, consists of, helping my 74 year old Nana with her homework for school, {Typing her work that she wrote onto the computer}. Being a baby-sitter for my uncle, { definitely bringing in the cash , now I can buy the MP5/6 player, that's just like an Apple Touch Ipod, but cheaper} Working at my business, more money, and having fun and practicing on going to BCC collage for Writing. {Still thinking about it}.
I know it may sound that I am really into money, but the fact is, I'm just excited about getting some! I've spent most of my life being 'poor' never really being able to afford anything, my life was/is complicated. So now that I am able to get money and save up, is a big thing in my family right now, and I'm excited.
Just reading a blog by Joe Shelton. He owns a ranch in Northern California and rescues injured race track horses {Mostly thoroughbreds}and other horses, abused. I have become a good fan, and I hope to do the same some day.
I love reading what he has to write, it is mostly ALWAYS funny, Here's some of what he wrote today: BELOW:
On
Memorial Day I met a 16 year old high school student from Folsom. In
our yard he says: I got involved with horses because I wanted to meet
girls. I fell in love, but it wasn’t with a girl. I am in love with
thoroughbreds.
Yesterday I met a young mother in Vacaville. In February she gave birth
to a daughter. The young mother tells me: I’ve lost 20 pounds just
from riding my horse every day. You should try it Joe.
(huh?)
Living in Northern California we have been through terrible earthquakes.
Fires. Floods. Wind damage. An ice storm. Frozen water pipes. Last
Friday came my first tornado. Okay, maybe it wasn’t that big. More
like a large dust twister. But it’s power was unreal. I heard it
before I saw it. Our dog Maxi and I were in the old ranch truck,
feeding supper. I thought what the heck is that noise? (to be
truthful, I used another word instead of heck) Our horses began acting
nuts. And then I saw it. Heading right towards our first barn. Oh oh.
In slow motion the roof to our barn was lifted and destroyed. And
then the huge tornado came right at me and Maxi. I had a few seconds to
ponder. I always liked that word, ponder. Been waiting for a chance
to use it.
In Northern California they don’t give you tornado advice. In case of
earthquake or floods, here is what you do. It started me thinking, if
we have another disaster, am I prepared? Nope. But I do have batteries
in the cupboard. And a can of tuna somewhere. Anyway I had one hand
on Maxi and one hand on the steering wheel. I said hang on Maxi. When
the gigantic tornado hit our truck Maxi gave out a little cry. The
noise and the power I will never forget. And just like that it was
gone. I could see little pieces of horse poop twirling in the sky.
Believe me, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen horse poop
circling above your ranch.
Well the insurance deductible would have cost too much, and what
nonsense to go through. I called a contractor and he came on his day
off, Sunday. It took the contractor only 5 hours to repair the barn
roof. The contractor brought two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for
his lunch. He gave a sandwich to Pony Boy. And now Pony Boy wants to
go live with the contractor.
Joe
I love to read what he has to say, you can become a follow too on his blog at: http://tbfriends.com
